June 12th is National Red Rose Day! This day honors the romantic flowers that are in bloom in gardens across the United States. For today, Howard letterpress printed a small electrotype (copy of a woodcut) from the Lewis Winter Collection that depicts some roses. Typeset below in 30 point Caslon font, the text states, “National Red Rose Day.” This was printed with a gradient of orange, yellow, and green ink using our Washington hand press. #NationalRedRoseDay #roses #SacHistoryMuseum #museum #printing
