🩸 PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is one of the most commonly discussed regenerative medicine treatments—but what exactly is it?
PRP is created by taking a sample of your own blood, spinning it in a centrifuge, and concentrating the platelets. These platelets contain growth factors that may help support the body’s natural healing response.
💡 While PRP is often marketed as a cure for arthritis, the research doesn’t support it as a way to regrow cartilage or reverse arthritis. However, it may help reduce pain and improve function in some patients.
💪 In my own practice, I’ve seen some of the best results when PRP is used for chronic tendinitis conditions, where stimulating the healing response can sometimes help patients get back to the activities they enjoy.
Like many treatments in medicine, PRP isn’t magic—but in the right patient and for the right problem, it can be a useful tool.
