South Korea’s shipbuilding industry has surged ahead of the U.S. In Hanwha’s shipyard in Korea, robots work alongside more than 26,000 workers. The yard trains about 400 workers at a time using virtual reality to prepare them for shipbuilding jobs. Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, Hanwha’s Philly Shipyard onboards about 20 workers at a time. It delivers about one ship a year, whereas in Hanwha’s South Korean yard, it delivers about one a week, says David Kim, CEO of the Philly Shipyard. #shipbuilding #southkorea #ships
