Being mixed is a strange thing. I look and sound British, and many people simply assume that’s the whole story. My family is a blend of British and Lebanese heritage. Many Lebanese people are considered white or white-passing, while others are not, which reflects the diversity of Lebanon itself. This video isn’t really about labels though. It’s about perception, assumptions, and how differently people can treat you based on what they think your background is. Sometimes people make assumptions about you based on how you look or how you speak. They assume you’ll be open to opinions or comments they’d probably never say if they knew your background. You end up hearing things you were never really meant to hear. For a long time, I didn’t always say anything. I think a lot of us don’t. It’s easier to avoid the awkwardness.
