🌸 Flower Fact of the Day: Wisteria 🌸 Wisteria is one of the most breathtaking flowering vines in the world. When it’s in bloom, those cascading clusters of purple, pink, or white flowers can make a pergola, arbor, or old barn look like something straight out of a storybook. Not only is it beautiful, but mature wisteria can provide incredible shade, attract pollinators like bees, and become a stunning focal point in the landscape for generations. But there’s a catch. Many of the Asian varieties grown in the United States are non-native and can be extremely aggressive. Given the chance, wisteria can climb trees, smother native plants, pull down fences, and spread far beyond where it was originally planted. Think of it as the beautiful villain of the garden world. Absolutely gorgeous, incredibly useful, but always one missed pruning away from taking over the neighborhood. If you grow wisteria, just make sure you’re the one in charge not the vine.
