Took me years to accept this, but it changed everything. You can be good and still not get picked. I know that’s a little brutal to hear, but it’s true. Sometimes someone else just matched the vibe the client already had in their head. Sometimes they had a style the client was already picturing. Sometimes they knew the right person, replied faster, or the person reviewing your work was simply having a bad day. None of that erases your skill. Getting passed over doesn’t automatically mean you’re not good enough. It means you weren’t the exact match in that moment. That’s it. If you treat every “no” like it’s a reflection of you, you’re going to burn yourself out trying to prove something that was never actually questioned.
