SpaceX raised $75 billion of the $98 billion in total IPO capital raised in the US so far in 2026. That is not a typo. One company accounted for nearly all of it.
The data on every major IPO since 2022 tells a consistent story: IPO stocks trade on their own terms. CoreWeave dropped 15 percent during tariffs then surged 368 percent on AI momentum while the S&P 500 was up only 18 percent in the same period. Strong markets cannot rescue overpriced IPOs. And overpriced IPOs can explode regardless of what the market does. SpaceX has a 30 percent retail allocation which is three times the typical 5 to 10 percent for a mega cap IPO. That creates the conditions for early price swings. Patience beats chasing the open.
