The ByWard Market is getting shut down for 17 days, right through Canada Day, starting June 23rd‼️😭🚧 A major section of Ottawa’s ByWard Market will be closed for more than two weeks this summer, including during Canada Day celebrations, as construction begins on the new Carré ByWard Square. The closure will run from June 23 to July 10 and will affect ByWard Market Square, nearby parking areas, and the plaza in front of EQ3. Temporary fencing will be installed throughout the area while crews complete upgrades to the public space. Despite the construction, officials say pedestrian access will remain open and businesses, restaurants, and shops throughout the Market will continue operating as usual. Clear signage will be in place to help visitors navigate the area during Canada Day festivities.
