The crew of USS Constitution honors the memory of the American and Allied forces who took part in the D-Day landings during World War II. On June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord, the largest amphibious invasion in history, landing on the beaches of Normandy, France. The operation marked the beginning of a sustained campaign that lasted several months and ultimately led to the liberation of northern France from Nazi occupation. D-Day became a pivotal turning point in the war and is widely recognized as the beginning of the end of World War II. Today, USS Constitution and her crew remember the courage, sacrifice, and determination of those who fought for freedom on that historic day. Their legacy of service continues to inspire military members around the world as we honor their commitment to defending liberty. #AmericanHistory #Navy250 #USSConstitution #OldIronsides #Sail250
