We are grateful to Barbie for sharing her story and helping us raise awareness about migraine disease and other headache disorders. We also appreciate her support as she fundraises for our Philadelphia Walk, Run, Relax event.
"I experienced my first migraine attack at 11 years old. What followed was years of missed opportunities, lost milestones, and being told that migraine was 'just a headache.'
Chronic migraine affected my education, career, relationships, and mental health. For a long time, I felt misunderstood and alone.
Today, I still live with chronic migraine and experience pain most days of the month, but I refuse to let this disease define my life. Finding a healthcare team that truly listened changed everything.
Migraine has also impacted my family. My daughter began experiencing migraine attacks at just 5 years old, and watching her face the same challenges has strengthened my commitment to advocacy.
