When it came to designing the living room at THE MART SHOWHOUSE, we began by analyzing the original architecture and considering both its challenges and possibilities. We let the space guide us while giving our imaginations room to roam. With that, the Art Deco brief quickly led us to a nighttime room meant to feel glamorous and cinematic–somewhere you’d want to settle in with a cocktail and drift into conversation. A structural column on the main wall, initially a challenge, ultimately became the catalyst for our design of a curved wall and shapely sofa. This anchored the room and created the enveloping, conversation-first quality we envisioned. To deliver the WOW factor, we chose materials with depth and luster throughout, incorporating unexpected fabrics that held light rather than simply reflecting it.
