This is Lenny. At 33 years old, Lenny is the RCMP’s oldest horse—and his story is nothing short of remarkable. Born in 1993 at the RCMP’s horse breeding farm in Pakenham, Ontario, Lenny went on to spend more than a decade touring across Canada with the Musical Ride, even performing overseas on special occasions. He took part in celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012. After retiring from performing at age 22, Lenny remained at the RCMP stables in Ottawa where he continued to train new Musical Ride candidates until his official retirement in 2021. A familiar and steady presence, he now helps guide younger horses and is often the first to lead them out of the barn each morning. Much more than a retiree, Lenny is a beloved member of the team—and proof that some legends never really slow down. Lenny may no longer perform, but you can still attend the Musical Ride Tour! #NationalHorseDay
