In our house, summer break doesn’t mean learning stops. It also doesn’t mean our kids spend all day reading and working through workbooks, because our goal isn’t to raise children who ace tests. Our goal is to raise thinking people: children who are curious, engaged, and who develop a true love for learning. 🧠
My philosophy has always been that, after the newborn phase when you’re living on your tiny boss’s schedule, children thrive with predictability and structure. They thrive when they know what’s coming, when their days have purpose, and when there is a healthy coexistence of learning, exploration, and play. 🌱
This is something we continue throughout the summer because learning and childhood aren’t in opposition with one another—they go hand in hand. 🤝🏽
This summer, that looks like academic camp, reading, writing, math practice, museums, travel journals, hands-on learning, pursuing their interests, vacations, and plenty of time to swim, play, and explore. 🙌🏽
