Super Typhoon Mawar is currently a Category 4 storm as it approaches the U.S. territory of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. This will be the strongest and largest storm to strike Guam in the last 20 years and is projected to be as strong as a category 5 hurricane when it makes landfall, bringing intense winds, severe rain and life-threatening storm surge.
Right now, more than a dozen Red Cross disaster workers are on the ground helping to support people in the path of the storm, and additional disaster teams and resources are on standby to provide recovery support in the aftermath.
