Thank you to everyone who came out to see Ru and celebrate her half birthday today! 🥳 Beyond 6 months, this celebration marks even more exciting milestones she’s reached! Our primate staff has noted that Ru is starting to climb when mom will let her down and she’s starting to take an interest in her environment by reaching out to grab things, eyeing enrichment, and even starting to gum food. We hope as Ru continues to grow and learn, you’ll grow with her! Young orangutans will stick by mom for around 8-10 years before becoming independent.
