This is probably the hardest conversation I’ve ever had... Because here I was complaining about getting to spend my day around the game I love, while she would’ve given anything to be able to step on the field and throw a softball. Ever since then, I’ve tried to look at things differently. Not “I have to practice.” Not “I have to work.” Not “I have to play.” I get to. Because one day, every athlete plays their last game. Every pitcher throws their last pitch. And none of us know when that day will come.
