Two Lincoln athletes are getting ready to represent Nebraska on one of the biggest stages in amateur sports.
Haley Waggoner and Garrett Stipke are headed to Minneapolis this week to compete in tennis at the Special Olympics USA Games.
Before heading to Minneapolis, the Lincoln based athletes made one final stop — a sponsored shopping spree at Target to stock up on travel essentials, clothing and supplies for the week ahead.
For Waggoner, this trip represents years of dedication.
She's been involved with Special Olympics for more than 20 years and will be competing at the USA Games for the fifth time.
Stipke is making his USA Games debut, but he's no stranger to competition.
The multi-sport athlete has spent 14 years competing in Special Olympics, participating in softball, flag football, soccer, basketball and tennis.
