Most people are doing the Spanish Squat wrong and it’s costing them half the stimulus.
Comment: ANTERIOR CHAIN
Single anchor point, one loop, both feet in. That’s how 90% of coaches teach it. The problem is the band pulls unevenly, your knees drift, and you lose the anterior chain loading you’re trying to create in the first place.
Here’s the fix:
Wrap the band so you have 2 loops. Each leg gets its own loop. Now the tension is bilateral, symmetrical, and the stimulus on the quad and hip flexor complex doubles.
Here’s why this exercise is so effective when done right:
The Spanish Squat creates a horizontal band force that pins the tibia in place. That means your quads have to do all the work, no cheating through the posterior chain, no compensation from the hips. Pure anterior line loading from foot to hip.
Most squat variations let athletes hide dysfunction. The Spanish Squat exposes it immediately. If your anterior chain is leaking force you’ll feel it in the first rep. If you...
