๐งก๐ New York City is having a moment and it's bigger than basketball.
The Knicks just won their first NBA championship in 53 years. The Puerto Rican Day Parade drew hundreds of thousands the very next day. Pride Month is unfolding across all five boroughs. The World Cup is here. And Juneteenth is just days away.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani showed up to the Puerto Rican Day Parade in a Knicks jersey and said what everyone was feeling: "To see unity coming in a moment of joy...it's something I've never seen before. The nation's largest city has become what feels like the world's smallest town."
Harlem's own Teyana Taylor put it even simpler: "Different wins. Same story."
In a country that feels heavy most days, New York City is reminding us that joy is also an act of resistance. And right now, the city has it in abundance.
