One of the three Philadelphia officers who was shot in Wynnefield over the weekend was released from the hospital Monday afternoon. Fellow officers and healthcare workers lined the sidewalk and clapped as a 39-year-old sergeant with the Philadelphia Police Department was wheeled out in a wheelchair. The sergeant was struck in the leg during a shooting that involved 57-year-old Eric Franks, who was shot and killed, according to police. Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said officers were responding to an incident Saturday near North 54th and Arlington streets when Franks began "engaging them multiple times." They attempted to arrest him when an exchange of gunfire started, according to officials. The two other injured officers are in stable condition. Franks was a Philadelphia firefighter, a Marine veteran and a father of two. #philadelphia #philly #wynnefield
