Major Anuj Rajput would have turned 32 this year. A brave officer of the Indian Army Aviation Corps, Major Rajput lost his life on September 21, 2021, when a Cheetah helicopter crashed during an operational mission in Jammu & Kashmir's Udhampur district. Just 27 years old, he had celebrated his birthday days earlier and had gotten engaged only two months before. Serving with the 9 (Independent) Recce and Observation Flight, Major Anuj Rajput and his co-pilot, Major Rohit Kumar, encountered severe weather and dense fog while carrying out their mission. Despite their efforts, the helicopter made a forced landing and crashed, claiming the lives of both officers. His sacrifice left behind grieving parents, Shri Kulbansh Singh and Smt.
