Well, the Pentagon did warn pilots....in a follow-up to the story we brought you a few months ago (when the Pentagon ‘reminded’ pilots that training foreign pilots—especially adversarial countries—violates a bunch of U.S. laws)...on Wednesday, a retired U.S. Air Force major and former fighter instructor was arrested on federal charges tied to training China’s military aviators. According to the Dept of Justice, Gerald Eddie Brown Jr., (call sign “Runner”) was taken into custody in Indiana and accused of violating the Arms Export Control Act by providing “unauthorized defense services” to pilots from the People’s Liberation Army Air Force. . Prosecutors allege Brown—who trained U.S. aircrews on the F-35 Lightning II & A-10—began arranging contracts in 2023 through intermediaries, traveled to China, and delivered combat flight instruction without the required State Department license under ITAR rules.
