In Victorian Britain, banjo-shaped feeding bottles were sold as a godsend — “Little Cherub” — but the long rubber tube could never be cleaned, and mothers were told not to wash it for weeks. The bacteria it bred killed thousands of babies.
They called it the murder bottle.
