She teamed up with 19-year-old Canadian Open winner Victoria Mboko, whose meteoric rise over the past year has made her one to watch. The pair defeated Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2, marking Williams’ first match win since 2022. In a post-game interview, Serena mentioned there’s still much room for improvement, but the energy was positive and, alongside Victoria, it was a fun return to the court. That’s how you set the tone!
