Tyra Banks is suing Netflix over its docuseries ‘Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.’
Tyra filed a defamation lawsuit, alleging the streaming platform edited her interview to create a false narrative.
According to the lawsuit, Banks participated in the documentary to discuss the legacy of ‘America’s Next Top Model’ and address both its successes and controversies. It states she took responsibility for certain aspects of the show and agreed to an open-ended, three-and-a-half-hour interview.
The filing claims Netflix promoted the project as a documentary and “the definitive, must-watch chronicle” of America’s Next Top Model, and argues viewers were therefore led to expect factual representation.
Banks alleges only 16 minutes of her interview were used, and that the footage was “stripped of context and reassembled” to support a “false and defamatory narrative.” She also claims her statements acknowledging accountability were removed.
