Coming into the 2026 season, the Mets were expected to be contenders, but they have been anything but. Inconsistent pitching and a largely ineffective offense have been the main culprits behind the club’s disappointing performance. A lengthy list of injuries certainly hasn’t helped matters either. With that said, the Mets win total was projected to be 89.5 wins, with a strong likelihood of surpassing that mark.
