Coming into the 2026 season, the Mets were expected to be contenders, but they have been anything but. Inconsistent pitching and a largely ineffective offense have been the main culprits behind the club’s disappointing performance. A lengthy list of injuries certainly hasn’t helped matters either.
With that said, the Mets win total was projected to be 89.5 wins, with a strong likelihood of surpassing that mark. However, with the Mets currently sitting in last place in the NL East and still outside of Wild Card contention, their chances of reaching 89.5 wins have plummeted to just 7% according to PolyMarket. While there is still plenty of baseball left to play, the Mets face a challenging schedule in June that could make their path to 90 wins even more difficult.
