Not that I really needed another reason to want to get out and try and fool a big fish, but caliproduk_ and I decided to partake in the 3rd round of the westcoastbasstour which took place in the month of May. We took an early lead with some stout Calicos and Sand Bass early in the month. Then we lost the lead as we only had two fish submitted as we had not dedicated any time to catching the needed Spotted Bay Bass. So in the waning days of May, we went out to look for a spottie to submit. Any legal spottie would have been enough to win for us. My first one was a 17" model and was able to cull that with pair of Spotties at 18" and even culled our first Calico submitted with a 24" 9lber! These tournaments whether traditional or length format can be a lot of fun. I highly suggest to participate whenever someone has one going on, like the ongoing ccacalifornia ccacalstar tourname...
