X user s13k has turned Claude Code’s context usage into a dynamic “black hole” effect inside the Ghostty terminal, making AI coding limits visible in real time.
What began as a simple break reminder using a custom shader that distorts terminal text with a gravitational lensing-style effect quickly evolved into something more practical after developer feedback: a live visualization of Claude Code’s context window.
As tokens are consumed, the black hole gradually expands. The closer the session gets to the context limit, the stronger the visual distortion becomes, subtly signaling when it’s time to run /compact before performance degrades.
And that’s what makes the idea so effective.
Most developer tools show usage through percentages, progress bars, or small corner indicators. This approach instead turns context consumption into a direct visual experience that transforms the entire workspace.
