Four years ago today, June 17, 2022, Vince McMahon stepped down as WWE Chairman and CEO while the board of directors investigated allegations of a $3 million hush payment made to a former employee. Stephanie McMahon was appointed interim CEO and Chairwoman the same day. That same night, hours after stepping down, Vince McMahon walked to the ring and opened SmackDown in Minneapolis. He said it was a privilege to stand before the WWE Universe.
