The Pretty Reckless, Download Festival 2026 LIVE REVIEW: There’s something so effortlessly cool about The Pretty Reckless, and seeing them live always feels like landing an invite to the grittiest and loudest rock and roll club in town. Fronted by one of rock’s most staggeringly captivating leaders, that spirit is always going to be enthusiastically welcomed at Download Festival, but there’s something about the way Taylor Momsen and Co. power through today’s set that feels particularly sleek. Perhaps that’s partly thanks to the buzz around upcoming album, ‘Dear God’, as new cuts ‘When I Wake Up’ and the relentlessly fiery ‘For I Am Death’ are delivered with extra vigour. Still, every part of today’s set feels freshly invigorated in some way. The darkly seductive gothic swagger of ‘Make Me Wanna Die’ lands with an incredibly sharp bite, and a dedication of the wickedly euphoric ‘Witches Burn’ to all the ladies in the crowd get a roaring response.
