June 15th is Global Wind Day! This day celebrates the power and possibilities that wind energy can provide. We couldn’t let this day blow on by without us printing something. For today, Howard letterpress printed an electrotype, copy of a woodcut, that was made 110 to 120 years ago. This engraving of a windmill is from the Bill Gaylord Collection. Bill collected a variety of printing materials while he was a docent at the Sacramento History Museum and taught Howard how to use the shop 27 years ago. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. #SacHistoryMuseum #windmills #museumtok #sacramento #printing
