A chaotic scene unfolded Monday night in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood after an argument between two men led to a deadly shooting and then a police pursuit, with Chicago police also firing shots and a suspect in critical condition.
A preliminary statement from the Chicago Police Department said the incident began about 8:22 p.m. in the 1400 block of West Argyle Street, when officers assigned to the 20th District heard a call of shots fired.
An initial investigation indicated a 63-year-old man was involved in a verbal argument with another known man, CPD said. As the altercation continued, the man produced a gun and fired shots, striking the 63-year-old multiple times in the body.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, CPD said.
