USA tops its World Cup Group after match day 1. Australia handled Turkey 2-0. This means for the US’s group D, they are tied with the Aussies at the top after 1 game with 3 points. The US atop of the standings though as they have a better goal differential after beating Paraguay 4-3 behind Florian Balagan’s first half brace on Friday. There was one concern that Captain America Christian Pulisic was taken off at half time. Head Coach Mauricio Pottichanio and Pulisic himself said after the game it was precautionary as he was kicked in the calf a couple times that resulted in dead leg feeling. They expect him to be good to go on Friday when The US play Australia in Seattle at 2 PM CT. The winner of that massive game could automatically qualify to the knock out rounds based on the result of Turkey and Paraguay later in the day.
