During Tuesday’s sentencing hearing, the victim asked the court to impose the maximum penalty, recounting how Mystikal allegedly choked her, pulled out her braids, and sexually assaulted her. Addressing the court afterward, Mystikal said, “If I did that to you, I deserve the maximum sentence.” The rapper, whose real name is Michael Tyler, was originally arrested in 2022 on charges including first-degree rape and false imprisonment. In March, he pleaded guilty to reduced charges of third-degree rape. Days before sentencing, he filed a motion seeking to withdraw his guilty plea, arguing he had not fully understood the consequences and was under significant emotional pressure when he entered it.
