Fear is surging as fast as Ebola itself in central Africa as the world's newest outbreak spirals out of control - faster than all of the past 17 outbreaks since virologists identified the deadly pathogen in 1976. Nearly 250 people have died and nearly 1,000 have tested positive so far, but tens of thousands of contacts have yet to be found.
