Eight people were arrested after deputies say they uncovered an illegal rooster fighting operation near Buckeye that included more than 150 roosters, cash, betting equipment, and multiple weapons. 🐓🚨
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of suspicious activity in the Rainbow Valley area and found an active fighting setup on the property.
Authorities say several people tried to flee when deputies arrived, with some reportedly crashing through fences while attempting to get away.
Investigators say they recovered 157 live roosters, around $18,000 in cash, betting boards, handguns, and a rifle during the operation.
All eight suspects were taken into custody. Officials also noted this was the second cockfighting bust in the county this year.
