🍞 SANDWICH LOAF 🍞
After lots of testing, this has become our favourite sandwich loaf.
It’s soft, fluffy, slices beautifully and stays fresh for days. Perfect for sandwiches, toast and packed lunches.
Ingredients:
🍞 250g water
🍞 75g milk
🍞 25g sugar
🍞 9g active dry yeast
🍞 500g plain flour
🍞 125g sourdough starter
🍞 12g salt
🍞 35g unsalted butter
Method:
1. Warm the water, milk and sugar until just lukewarm. Stir in the yeast and leave for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
2. Add the flour, sourdough starter and yeast mixture to a bowl and mix until combined.
3. Add the salt and butter and mix until smooth and elastic.
4. Cover and leave to rise until doubled in size.
5. Shape into a loaf and place into a lined loaf tin.
6. Leave to rise again until the dough has risen above the rim of the tin.
7. Bake at 190°C (170°C fan) for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
