Today, we are crowning three-time WNBA champion Jewell Loyd as our #QueenoftheWeek 👑 Born in Lincolnwood, Illinois, and raised near Chicago, Loyd starred as a four-year starter at Niles West High School. She went on to play for Notre Dame, where she became one of the most decorated players in program history. During her college career, Loyd was named ESPN’s Women’s College Basketball Player of the Year and ACC Player of the Year. She also scored 1,909 points, the fifth-highest total in Notre Dame history. Loyd’s professional career started off strong. In 2015, she was the first overall pick in the WNBA Draft, selected by the Seattle Storm. That same year, she was named WNBA Rookie of the Year.
