Rare red weather warnings have been issued for parts of the UK. The Met Office is warning of extreme heat in parts of southern England, as well as the Midlands and southern Wales this week. The warning will come into effect at 9am in the UK on Wednesday until 9pm on Thursday. The hottest temperatures could reach 38C in some areas during the heatwave. In situations where a red warning is issued, the Met Office has advised people to avoid travelling where possible and to follow the advice of the emergency services and local authorities.
