Footage showing the birth of a rare Yangtze finless porpoise has been released by the Institute of Hydrobiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Wuhan City, central China's Hubei Province. The calf, which has been named Xiao 26, was born last month on May 22, making it a month old now. It measured about 70cm in length and weighed around 5kg at birth. The porpoise is a national first-level protected species, China’s highest protection for wild animals.
