“It wasn’t man that freed us. It was God who sustained us until freedom came.” Reflecting on this Juneteenth, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. As I look through these photos of my grandmothers, my mother, and myself, I don’t just see career milestones or professional achievements, I see the physical manifestation of prayers prayed, sacrifices made, and seeds planted long before I was born. Every door I’ve walked through and every goal I’ve reached is a testament to the strength, resilience, and faith of the women who came before me. I am quite literally the dream they were hoping for, and I am committed to making sure that dream continues to expand for those who will follow.
