RECAP! 12 weeks ago I started a training block with a friend and impressive athlete, ratt.fitness for the Portland Half. Four runs a week, workouts, long runs, and a goal of running a PR & beat 1:55:30. About a month before Portland, I decided to sign up for the Wells Half Marathon. It’s known for being flat and fast, and I ended up running a 1:50:57 (💅🏼) A month later came Portland. They reversed the course this year, which I was actually excited about because it felt like a new challenge. The training was there, but looking back, I don’t think I approached the race as strategically as I could have. I was given proper workouts & training runs but didn’t execute them. There was a long climb early on that absolutely cooked my legs. I’ve never experienced that feeling before, my legs felt so dense and heavy for almost the entire race.
