Today, we give special recognition to our amazing MFC Alumni Nancy, the first in her household to attend college. As an MFC Mentee, Nancy developed the academic skills, career readiness, and perseverance she needed to pursue her Bachelor's degree in History and professional aspirations in Library and Information Sciences and Museum Curatorship. While still a high school mentee, she served her community through advocating for low-income tenants' rights and has continued her activism for social justice even after graduating from MFC. Through it all, her MFC Mentor “stood by [her] side through [her] hardest moments and joyful moments." Overall, being mentored helped Nancy understand “how to survive in the real world.” Now, she is thriving in her senior year at CSULA and is already gaining work experience in her chosen professional field as an Assistant in the Special Collections Archive at her university.
