Some places really do live up to the hype, and The Grotto was definitely one of them.
Pictures don’t prepare you for how clear the water actually is. Between the turquoise water, natural caves, and the views along the way, this ended up being one of our favourite stops in Tobermory.
A few things we’d recommend if you’re planning a visit:
• Book your parking as early as possible. We booked ours almost a month in advance and spots fill up quickly, especially during summer.
• Wear comfortable shoes. The Georgian Bay Trail is about a 30-minute hike each way and is part of the experience.
• Don’t rush your visit. We originally thought we’d just stop by, take a few pictures and leave, but we ended up sitting there for quite a while simply enjoying the views.
• Check the weather beforehand. It was below 10°C and super cloudy when we visited, so swimming wasn’t an option for us.
Safe to say, Tobermory has already earned a spot on our list of favourite Ontario getaways.
