If you’re parenting a deaf or hard of hearing child, you’ve probably developed dozens of little habits that most people never notice. You automatically sit on their preferred side. You check for captions before movie night starts. You know where every hearing aid battery, charger, coil, remote mic, and drying kit lives. You find yourself thinking about access before most people even realize access is needed. The funny thing is, after a while, none of it feels unusual anymore. It just becomes part of how you love and support your child. I always say, even if there’s only one DHH person, you become a DHH family.
