Both the American and Iranian presidents have remotely signed the memorandum of understanding to end the war in the Middle East, ahead of a first round of talks on Friday in Switzerland.
This agreement brings an end to the conflict launched on February 28 by the United States and Israel, which has left thousands dead, primarily in Iran and Lebanon, and shaken the global economy.
The agreement now paves the way for a 60-day period for detailed negotiations on Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of international sanctions that are suffocating the Islamic Republic.
‘I just signed it,’ Donald Trump told reporters after a dinner Wednesday evening at the Palace of Versailles with Emmanuel Macron. A video posted on X shows the Republican president signing the agreement alongside his smiling French counterpart.
On the Iranian side, it was signed by Pezeshkian .
