The U.S. men's national team has clinched a spot in the World Cup knockout stage with a match to spare after defeating Australia 2-0 Friday, June 19. Alex Freeman scored and Folarin Balogun helped secure an Australia own goal for three more points in Group D. After defeating Paraguay 4-1 to start the tournament, the USMNT now has six points from its first two matches. It is the first time since 1930 the U.S. has started the World Cup with back-to-back wins.
