⚠️ RED FLAG WARNING
Residents and visitors in portions of the Sierra Nevada are encouraged to take precautions as thunderstorms, dry lightning and gusty winds increase the potential for new wildfires.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, June 18, for portions of Lassen, Alpine and Mono counties.
Additionally, a fire weather watch has been issued for portions or Humbolt, Trinity, Siskiyou, Modoc, and Lassen counties.
A mix of wet and dry thunderstorms could produce isolated dry lightning and erratic outflow winds gusting around 50 mph. Lightning may spark new fires, while strong winds could cause fires to grow rapidly.
Avoid activities that could ignite dry vegetation, including mowing dry grass, dragging tow chains and having campfires. Follow local fire restrictions and report fires immediately by calling 911.
