When I’m in a Black-owned record store, surrounded by the artwork, the history, and the dust of classic vinyl, I feel the presence of the masters who paved the way. Fela, James Brown, John Coltrane, Roy Ayers... they laid the blueprint.
Dancing to these sounds is an act of remembrance.
It’s honoring the sweat and the absolute joy that these creators poured into the wax. Every bassline is a lesson, every breakbeat is a story, and every dance step is a thank you to the giants whose shoulders we stand on.
We keep the flame alive by keeping the records spinning and the bodies moving.
