As a boy, Nishan Tchekmedyian shadowed his father, N. Simon Tchekmedyian, M.D. as he cared for patients with cancer. Nishan saw the way his dad listened, showed up, and steadied his patients on their hardest days. That image never left him, so he painted his dad in his white coat, knowing that he, too, wanted to make the same difference someday. Decades later, father and son continue to serve patients together. The painting Nishan gave as a Father’s Day gift hangs in his office; it reminds him of the beginning of his calling to practice medicine and the man who shaped him into the person he is today.
